Did you lose friends when you stopped drinking alcohol or using drugs?
When i first went alcohol free and drug free, I stopped the
patterns of bars and friends in that scene until I had gone to Alcoholics
Anonymous Meetings and Narcotics Anonymous meetings for about 6 months, but no
I never lost friends but it depends what you consider a friend. There were people
who couldn’t accept that I could not drink in moderation and tried to convince
me, but anyone who is your friend will support your choice to live a sober
lifestyle. What I did find, however, was an incredible sober network I gained. I
went to AA meetings near me
and we typically went out after meetings and did all sorts of sober activities
that I would never have dreamed of all the time I was with my drinking buddies.
Living life on life's terms is pretty amazing as there are so many ways to find
sober events and sober travel around the world. I wouldn't worry about losing
friends as you will keep the ones who respect your choice to be alcohol free
and meet sober people who become
friends and supporters for a lifetime. I event started finding sober singles
through a sober
dating app and now, not only do I live an amazing sober lifestyle but I
have found love in recovery!
